Do NDTers Do?
NDT
is a diverse, exciting and technically emerging field which continues
to grow. People with backgrounds in nondestructive testing technology
find themselves working in a variety of industries done all kinds
of different things. In general, NDT personnel develop and carryout
inspections and measurements on objects. These inspections are
performed in a manner such that no damage is done to the object.

What do people in NDT do?
- Contractors/Business owners: Provide consulting and inspection
services that are mandated by insurance companies as well as
local, state and federal enforcement agencies. In addition,
provide quality control services to companies that may not have
the resources or trained personnel to perform these inspections.
- Technicians: Perform, monitor, witness or evaluate inspections
using a variety of inspection methods and quality assessment
techniques such as ultrasound examinations , x-ray and gamma
radiography imaging, magnetic particle and liquid penetrant
defect detection, a variety of different electromagnetic inspection
methods as well as many others.
- Local, State and Federal Inspectors: Commonly employed by
city, state and federal agencies as well as the military to
assure that both fabrication and maintenance inspections are
properly conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Sales and Marketing: Provide technical expertise, services
and equipment to meet quality control needs in a variety of
industries.
- Engineers: Assist companies in all phases of project development
including design, fabrication and specifying inspection techniques
and methods used to ensure product reliability and longevity.
- Research and Development: Professionals constantly working
on improving our inspection methods and techniques as well as
new and improved materials and products utilized in the industry.
